The Story

Believe it or not, this song emerged at the end of a 6 minute song that was cut from our album during the Pre Production phase. While the song before it was fantastic, it was clear to us that the true magic began when the song that we now know as “A Glimpse of Clarity” begins. Slowly, it evolved into an emotional rollercoaster as Jesse refined the Guitar parts 2-3 times over and Gareth was brought in to replace midi Drums. It was at this time that our Bassist Brad added his touch to everything and really outlined the magic of the music as well as complimented it so delicately and thoughtfully.

The original chord progression that can be heard through out the majority of the song is a result of Greisy and Jesse sitting down together and searching for a chord progression that (to their ears) didn’t get too boring when repeated and had a variation (each second time around) that wasn’t too intrusive. The whole intention here was to keep the focus on the Guitar and Bass’s singing. That is because we wanted this song to give people a genuine insight into the melodic ears of Jesse and Brad. We wanted to create a beautiful and open platform for them to express themselves fully. We wanted you to hear what their souls sound like.

The Meaning

Distortion of the intellect nowadays reigns supreme. The greatest and strongest minds are the ones most at risk. For rationalisation is the tool that can be used both to build and destroy ourselves. Knowledge and reason alone cannot offer us the solution to our most urgent planetary problems. We must have wisdom too. As we begin to walk the path in converting knowledge into wisdom, “A Glimpse of Clarity” will always be there to light the way for you.
